My Red Robin Balloon

Sunday I got to eat at Red Robin after church and the best part was that I got a balloon when we left! Here's me and my balloon:
"Look! Here's the ribbon that's tied onto the balloon!"

"AAAHHH!!! This balloon cracks me up!"
"I just love carrying this thing around!"
"uh...oh..."

"I'm glad my daddy is so tall so he could get it out of the ceiling fan for me!"

"Let's go to Red Robin for a balloon every day!"

the streak finally ended!

I'm kind of nervous to write about this because I don't want to jinx it...but, oh well.

Since June 14, Audrey has woke up between 5:45 and 6:10 every morning (that's 14 straight days!!!) with a poopy diaper.

Yesterday and today she finally slept in until 7:00 again! (I think that sentence is an oxymoron...does waking up at 7 really qualify as sleeping in?!?)

During these 14 days, Tyson and I couldn't bring ourselves to go to bed early so all three of us were losing an hour of sleep each night, which can really add up. Just imagine the frustration, day after day, of her waking up mad because she was dirty, and mommy and daddy were frustrated because "what happened to our little sleep machine that would always sleep in until 7?!?" And once she was awake, she was up for the day, after all, the sun was already coming up!

Now, let's just hope her little system doesn't get back on that routine...ever!

the luxury of swim diapers

After dinner, Tyson, Audrey and I went outside to our backyard. Tyson and I were swinging on our porch swing and Audrey was walking all over the place, carrying around one of her golf clubs and hitting it against the ground. She eventually made her way over to her pool and saw one of her pool toys that she HAD to have. She dropped the golf club in the pool, then reached and leaned and stretched as far as she could to get that toy. She eventually was up on her tip-toes and had pulled one leg up to get just a little closer, but the toy kept floating away. I knew that she would be persistent in trying to reach it and she's reached toys that were floating in her pool before, so she knew she could do it! Just as Tyson was saying, "do you think she'll fall into the pool?" she leaned a little too far and she did a side roll into the pool with all her clothes on. She was a little stunned, but as soon as she sat up, she had a HUGE smile on her face and started giggling and laughing and "swimming."
We decided to let her play for a while, since she was already soaked, and I began to notice her diaper rapidly filling up with water. And it kept filling up. Eventually, we could see the super-absorbent rectangle part through her dress and bloomers, so we decided it was time to take the diaper off. I could hardly believe how full it was! I wrapped it up and had Tyson take a picture...it was SO heavy! We should have weighed it. There's no way a baby could pee that much, but at least we know it would hold that much if necessary! I'm very glad that someone, somewhere came up with Little Swimmers swim diapers and we don't have to deal with this every time we go swimming. :)
(and pay no attention to the naked baby in the background...I didn't realize she was in the picture until it was already loaded, and I don't want to take the time to edit the picture.) :)

following directions

This afternoon, Audrey and I were outside in the pool (her kiddie pool) for a while. Audrey eventually got bored so I let her walk around our backyard while I stayed in the pool. She was carrying her juice cup around with her, got distracted and left it in the middle of the yard. A little bit later, she was playing with some toys and I decided to try something new.

me: "Audrey! Where is your juice?"

She looked around and spotted it immediately, then looked back at me and smiled.

me: "Can you go get your juice?"

and to my great surprise, she did! She dropped what she was holding, stood up and walked over to her juice cup, picked it up and took a drink!

She's growing up way too fast!

these are a few of her favorite things...

playing with (or pestering) Walter

sitting in her chair
drinking from her new cup with a straw, while holding 2 of her golf clubs (already multi-tasking)

peas and carrots (I'm not kidding)

posing (she's wearing an outfit I had as a baby)

playing in her whale pool

going on bike rides with mommy and daddy

swinging at Funtastic Island

sitting on our vacuum box while I do laundry

emptying kleenex boxes

going through clothes (in suitcases, closets, drawers, wherever)
giving cheesy smiles!

aah! I just can't seem to get enough of her. :)

how young do I look?

About 2 minutes ago, the doorbell rang. So, I walked to the door and a young (probably younger than me) salesmen was standing outside. He looked at me (I was actually dressed nicely and had my hair done, which is supposed to help me look older) then he kind of stumbled over his words...and finally said "are the homeowners available?"

so I said, "no" as if I felt bad, like he had just missed them and gave him a half grin.

I love looking young enough to be able to pass as the babysitter. :) and so I don't have to listen to another sales pitch on something I don't want and will never buy.

:) aaaahhh...
